Re: TONIGHT: Plan to update the board software
It looks like the update has been successful, although there were a couple of rocky spots. (The instructions explicitly said not to delete certain directories, but then the contents of those directories were not updated when they should've been. Sigh. It's always something.) Obviously, I found that ...

TONIGHT: Plan to update the board software (completed)
Hey everyone. Our phpBB software is currently 3.3.0 so I plan to update to 3.3.9 this evening. It'll likely be around 11pm ET when I start. The board will be disabled for about an hour, I expect, unless something gets screwed up. This won't affect other services (like the RPTools game registry), jus...

Re: Class Cast exception bug
All cellular mobile networks — that I know of — use IP6 for data connections. There could be an issue on the RPTools.net service which doesn't handle IP6 properly, or it could be an IP4<->IP6 translation issue. There's an open issue describing WebRTC issues I had that's mainly waiting for someone to...

Re: VPN and "java.net.SocketException Permission denied: connect" at launch
I presume you're on Windows. (Even if you're not, the concept described next applies to other platforms, too.) Your VPN software is creating multiple network interfaces that act as tunnels over your physical network. (That's what a VPN is/does.) It may create more than one. One that is invalid may e...

Re: [RESOLVED] How do I bring back a campaign from an old MT version?
Wow. That's great to hear! Maybe I'll be able to recover and use some of my campaign files from 1.3b45 (circa 2008). That's cool, cuz I'm considering running a new group through that series and I'd like to not have to redo everything . (Fortunately, I saved a lot of the stuff separately, too: tables...

Re: MapTool 1.10.2 Available for Download
Is there version specific information regarding cfg editing on the wiki? I took a brief look for a page on cfg editing but didn't find it... which doesn't mean it's not there (it just means pointing users to the wiki and expecting it to be easily found might not be the best assumption.) I actually ...

Re: Friend's MapTool doesn't seem to save autologs (Mac versions)
The folders still aren't there , somehow. Hence why my friend is so infuriated by the situation and just doesn't want to bother with it anymore. Hm. Given that MT won't run if it can't create or access that directory, I'm somewhat incredulous. Since they've given up and are too frustrated to make f...

Re: MapTool 1.10.2 Available for Download
If people will read the page that RPTroll linked to, they see your first two points covered. Since the D3D is turned off by default now, hopefully they don't need your third point at all. But if they go to the Startup tab in Preferences, it tells them where the config file is but not how to edit it....

Re: Friend's MapTool doesn't seem to save autologs (Mac versions)
[...] even though according to your last information we were trying to find maptool's internal system log rather than the chatlogs this time. *shrug* Oh well. If you find one, you find the other. It's interesting that the user chose to ignore the full pathname I provided (the ~/.maptool-rptools pat...

Re: Friend's MapTool doesn't seem to save autologs (Mac versions)
Hrm. If "FyleSyncDirectory" doesn't actually have anything to do with chatlog autosaves, then why is it grouped there in the first place? That's weird. I said I wasn't aware that it had any effect, not that I knew it didn't have any effect. Anyway, tried to have my friend look for the stu...

Re: Friend's MapTool doesn't seem to save autologs (Mac versions)
I'm running macOS Big Sur 11.6 on a MBP. MapTool is at 1.9.3. That last entry, FileSyncDirectory , I'm not familiar with but I don't believe it has any bearing on the chat log autosave. (I'll do some research and post back here when I have any more info on it.) I had my chat log autosave turned off,...

Re: Friend's MapTool doesn't seem to save autologs (Mac versions)
Have the user check their MapTool Preferences. In particular, the contents of the chat log-related fields (chat log filename and the auto save duration). Nothing else in your description points to a problem.

Re: MapTool 1.8.3 Released [ALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS WILL STOP WORKING!!]
Yeah, fortunately, the days of 1 and 2G 32 bit systems are of the past... and 8G+ systems seem to be more the norm leaving plenty for both the system and the most demanding MT frameworks. But the java memory voodoo has always been a bit of a bother. And MT now generates more threads than it used to...
