Re: Looking for a System

Sorry for the late bump, but... Well, no excuses really. I've done a bit of review of systems. Risus looks like a good time. I'll print it out next time I've got a road trip. Savage Worlds looks like a really quality lightweight system with great support and a good sense of humor, which matters a lo...

Looking for a System

I'm looking for a simple rpg with fast, interesting combat. RPG combat either gets broken, boring, slow, or otherwise generally awful, and that's okay. It's a roleplaying game. Some of them do it better than others, and some try harder than others, but in the end, RPGs are generally bad boardgames. ...

Re: Aliasmask, why the dumb name?

I set up my email, and consequentially every other account I have pretty much, back in middle school, when I liked Eragon a lot and couldn't spell. No great story. I'm trying to move towards HobbitJesus, because I have hairy feet, go barefoot a lot, and look a lot like the white-guy-with-long-wavy-b...

Re: Campaign Cartographer vs Fractal Mapper

I'm not good in it by any standards, but I can find my way around. I just watched some CC3 tutorials, and it really doesn't look too hard. I can see how it'd annoy people who were really stuck on a single interface (it's a bit strange and it's got a TON of buttons) but it really doesn't look too con...

Re: Campaign Cartographer vs Fractal Mapper

So I'm meddling about in the Fractal Mapper demo right now, and it's... Okay. The art the demo comes with is very low-resolution and really not all that pretty, but the basic wall-making functionality works just great, and I can probably hunt up some better art. I haven't found the gorram snap-to-gr...

Campaign Cartographer vs Fractal Mapper

So I've finally given up on Dundjinni a few years after the rest of the mapping community, and I'm in the market for a shiny new mapping program that I can run without exposing myself to security holes in a ten-year-old Java build. Campaign Cartographer and Fractal Mapper both seem to be pretty good...

Re: My group says D&D now sux. What to try out instead?

Pathfinder looks better than 4E to me, but it's still DnD.
World of Darkness, but you really need to play it their way. It's not as configurable as DnD is, you're kind of stuck in a genre and a world. A very nice world, but still.
GURPS is famous, but I haven't played it. Still, check it out.

Re: This week sucked

Well, I'll contribute a badly scraped arm and a broken toenail (not chipped, bent up halfway up the toe) to the pile of suck. I'm actually having a great weekend (new campaign! I'm finally DMing again!) but I was running down a road, jumped up on a curb to run on that for a bit (it's just what I do....

Re: Why don't other game systems succeed like like D&D?

I'd say it's mostly longevity. DnD has a history, and as such it's known to the general public. It is accused of satanism every couple of years by stupid people. That makes it more famous than most congressmen. Whether or not there is such a thing as bad press, DnD is pretty much the only rpg that g...

I was gone, yes. I'm back now. I had no reason to leave, I just... stopped. It's good to be back.

Re: Need Music for Your Campaign?

This was not what I expected this thread to be. I expected it to be a place to share what decent campaign music we had found. If people want, http://www.incomeptech.com has some decent stuff. Anybody?

Re: MapTool should support this dice type...

I think maptool does support them. It just calls them tables.

Also, I think this is the second time in the past month that somebody has mentioned these dice. I think it's a conspiracy.
