Re: Which version is the stablest?
First, thanks to everybody for their quick answers. Actually, I do have Java 7 installed (with windows 7). I played with the latest version about three months ago and don't remember specific bugs but I do remember having much more graphic bugs with the latest versions than with my earlier versions (...

Which version is the stablest?
Hello. I started an online campaign with one player and tried the latest versions (b87 and 88) but both had stability problems. My main goal is to use maptool in the simplest way, no macro, but I do enjoy the adjustable FOW. But my principal need is a stable version. Could you please tell me which v...

Re: My group says D&D now sux. What to try out instead?
I don't think you can get any crunchier than Chivalry and Sorcery or Aftermath (which was not necesserally anymore realistic than D&D since you could have a very hard time trying to kill anybody with a .22 ammo...) Oh yeah. You learned very quickly that .22's in Aftermath were only good for get...

Re: My group says D&D now sux. What to try out instead?
DnD/ADnD were some of the least crunchy systems out there for many years. It was also one of the most crunchy systems, on account of it being the ONLY system for quite some time. You clearly weren't alive during that period. Tunnels & Trolls (1975), Empire of the Petal Throne (1975), The Fantas...

Re: My group says D&D now sux. What to try out instead?
That's pretty telling, coming from François-Marie Arouet, a fellow known the world over for his witty, satirical repartee. That said, I am sure he would disagree with WotC's virtual monarchy upon the gaming world and the fact that the droves of D&D followers essentially cling in blind faith to ...

Yes, but what amazed me whas how cool you made it look. I really didn't think you could do that with a macro (I would have been happy with your second option but you got me spoiled now).

Re: Hit points and bar in b56
Holy slip! It is that simple (except for the coding that I couldn't have done even if my life depended on it) and (after a few trials and errors) it works perfectly!
Thanks a million (and to Trevor and contributors too), and thanks for such a prompt reply!

Tree trunk across a river
Hello
I managed to draw a river on my map but couldn't find a tree trunk in dundjinni to cross it.
I tried drawing it with maptool but boy, is it ugly...
So, if anyone could point me to a tree trunk stamp, I would be most grateful.
Thanks in advance

Hit points and bar in b56
Sorry if this question is naive, but... I finally got to use Maptool with my children (7 and 11, they don't speak english, I decided not to import macros) and the only way to use health bars (great for children) was to edit the hit points in properties and calculate the percentage of hit points left...

Re: Sweet Deals on RPGs
(once again, I'm impressed at the maturity of the people on this board who can discuss a sensitive subject without name calling of flamewar - yet) About the diminution of youth violence, I think that you really cannot establish a correlation (not even causality) between it and the augmentation of vi...

Re: Sweet Deals on RPGs
The problem is that we have forgotten that kids since time immemorial have played with violent toys, and now we want to ban them, since it might 'encourage violence'. At first D&D was a good target: OH MY GOODNESS! THESE KIDS ARE TALKING OUT SCENES WHERE THEY KILL STUFF! The advent of violent v...

Re: D&D Players Handbook II 4e..your thoughts?
Man... google tells me that "24 Euros = 31.2696 U.S. dollars" So that's a LOT of extra cash to get to $60. Ouch!!! (er roughly $29...gee, I can has do maths!) I think I'll stick to buying it stateside when the time comes, than you very much! Sorry to derail this thread (even more) but wer...

Re: D&D Players Handbook II 4e..your thoughts?
Here, in Sweden, the book costs 60 dollars(!), hence, getting it either on Amazon or as a downloadable PDF (which I hate for reference books) are my "better" options. I was surprised at the lack of material in the book and expected more ("What? No Warforged?) and was mildly amused at...

Re: Pug/Game Geeks reviews 4e against his no bad reviews policy
A few weeks ago, I tested a very "light" RPG system to introduce friends to roleplaying. Actually, not really having a system for social interactions greatly enhanced roleplaying since players thought about doing things and not about "I have +4 in juggling and the DC is 20? Forget it&...
