Re: cant open .Jar files on windows 8.1

Has the Windows 8.1 machine got Java 8 installed? If so that may be the problem. I have just hit that same issue. I was attempting to use the online instance only to find that Java 8 blocks the use of self-signed applications even when the site is added to the Exceptions list for Java security.

Re: Is DDI still value for money?

I think the compendium is worth the subscription alone Is it though? I'm not convinced. Even when I was a subscriber I didn't access the compendium during a game. If I need to look something up I will have books with me. If the books don't cover it I make a decision based on the situation, my knowl...

Re: Is DDI still value for money?

I think it is still worth it, especially if you DM. I DM most of the time so I am constantly looking stuff up, like items, monsters, traps, etc.. I do DM a lot ... but not always 4e. Currently in the F2F game we have gone back to a d20 Modern campaign we last played about 5 years or so ago. When I ...

Is DDI still value for money?

I've previously been a subscriber to DDI obtaining year long subscriptions each time. Unfortunately I let my subscription lapse - by accident. I had to get a new VISA card earlier this year when I lost my old one and I forgot to update a few places where the old card was registered as the payment me...

Re: Rant from Big D

Personally, I haven't downloaded any art packs for a while now (a few years prolly ... ) ... but I am thinking of running a new game via MT soon and I am thinking of getting some new art. So ... in advance ... sincere thanks to all of those with more artistic prowess than I* for I will be hav...

Re: D&D 4E: Keep on the Shadowfell Adventure

No ... I think I covered everthing I saw ... :D A friend of mine I used to work with has been begging me to run a new campaign as an online game and I am torn between something completely from my fevered imagination  or running KotS. I really like what you have so far ... its got everything you...

Re: D&D 4E: Keep on the Shadowfell Adventure

Thats not too bad ... :D Some points to note... On the Kobold Ambush and On the Road encounters the Kobold tokens are visible to players at the start but I remember that the text of the encounters says that the kobolds are not visible until the players reach a certain point on the map ... at least t...

Re: D&D 4E: Keep on the Shadowfell Adventure

Cool. Because I am looking at starting a campaign soon and I haven't yet decided whether I'll do KotS or something else two questions immediately spring to mind ... :) 1. What is meant by " WARNING: This campaign is still not finished! "? 2. When will it be finished? oh ... and a third que...

Re: A funny thing happened on the way to ...

Well ... never having seen this tactic before I was initially taken aback ... as you would ... Then inspiration took over and I ruled that the "attack" was a basic melee ... at which Z was very successful. Z's Player then said "Is there a drawstring? Can I pull it tight?" I deter...

A funny thing happened on the way to ...

You guys may not find this in the slightest way funny but I had to share this had-to-be-there-to-see-the-funny-side moment from my last session. The last time me and my friends met for a session, the whole thing degenerated into laughs and puns on the account of the party halfling ... Keeping this a...

Re: D&D with local and remote players

You know ... I had similar thoughts when I bought my Kinect. Its very cool and the video and audio protocols seem to work very well - at least so I have seen. My Live ID sub ran out and I have not yet renewed .... which in turn means I have yet to try out networked Kinect games and/or video and audi...

Re: D&D with local and remote players

We had no feedback as such ... but there was a lot of hiss on the audio.

I believe this is a known issue that if Skype detects low noise input it scales up the output volume to try to compensate.

At one point the remote player was muting his mic to minimise the hiss.

Re: D&D with local and remote players

Thanks for the responses. We played last night with one minor hiccup ... "Dave's" router was not allowing internet connections through Maptools. I would have gone into the settings but with catching up from not seen each other for a couple of months and other topics :? ... oh ... and waiti...
