Re: Request: Top Down City Maps

Look for a Grand Theft Auto (3/Vice City) map on Game FAQs.

Re: Map Design Preferences

with the room descriptions on numbered tokens on the hidden layer. Actually, what I like to do is put the room descriptions on those nice little circled "i" tokens and put them on the object layer. The "read out loud" descriptions go in the normal notes section and the DM stuff ...

Re: Map Design Preferences

The main reason I like doors on the object layer is that one of my players has a habit of finding ways to separate them from their hinges. (When the Open Lock DC is 30 and you have a brute with a large great sword...) The only other convenient thing about having door objects, is you can put their lo...

Re: Map Design Preferences

Movement needs to be kept totaled for an initiative round. That way you can drop your token to commit your movement so far, then pick it back up to keep going.

Re: Map Design Preferences

Oh, you'll break soon enough. I know too many graphics artists and my pixel perfect art technique doesn't actually work. My brother-in-law (sister's husband), his friend Matt. A friend named Adam, my wife's friend's niece, Ryn. My friend Shameka. And I think there are a few others that I haven't sp...

Re: Map Design Preferences

I knew it would work that way, but I'm just so used to all maps being "drawn" out as you explore them that I use FOW to do that. You're still not going to get pre-drawn lighting effects from me though! Hahahaha. (Because my Photoshop-fu is limited to crop, copy, cut, and paste level.) Anyw...

I'm not sure I understand how you use vision without fog of war.

Map Design Preferences

Hi all, If you are a Maptooler who likes to use premade big-map images of whole dungeons, what features do you prefer to have on those maps and which ones do you prefer not to have? Do you want doors? Do you want major furniture features? Do you want any furniture? Do you have a preferred contrast b...

Re: Running MT on a Virtual Private Server (was:Can maximum ...)

I can't tell if anybody said this but when you force the players to a map with CTRL-E, it will also force the server to that map. And, in 1.3b56, I can save the campaign as a client DM. The saved file might be missing images though, so make sure you have an updated remote repository for the campaign...

Re: MT 1.3b57 Progress - Take2

Man, I hate working on toilets... ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE'S NO GOOD REASON FOR IT!!! and there's never a reason that's good enough to shove an entire roll of tp to your toilet. Other than just being 3 yrs old, which all the reason you need to do just about anything... Apparently. Hmm, 6 more m...

Re: Need some help cuz I'm a nub!!!

A lot of the data-work was done when Andargor made a database of the monsters. Most of my data is from that work. The scripts made making the tokens pretty easy. Finding the images is an annoying part, but not bad. Still, lots of work, but not quite as bad as making each one manually. You can change...

Re: Need some help cuz I'm a nub!!!

MapTool itself is pretty "dumb" for built-in features for specific game systems. However, the frameworks add in the functionality through custom macros to fill the specific game's features. If you use the 3.5 framework from http://forums.rptools.net/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=5475 then you c...

Re: Vision Blocking problem

Nothing you're doing is that out of the ordinary. I wish I could help more.

You have a high pixels-to-squares ratio, but small maps, so it works out in the end...

Can maptool find the map image if you switch maps back and forth?

Re: Vision Blocking problem

What is the DPI of your scanned map or Pixels per square?
Which memory option are you using when starting MapTool?
How much memory do you have?

Re: Vision Blocking problem

That's Ghelve's Locks store/house. If you are scanning the map from the book, you might want to grab one of the maps done online for it. I think I found those at RPGenius, but it seems to be unavailable right now. My cached copies are at http://www.imarvintpa.com/Campaign/Shackled/assets/?C=S;O=D Fi...
