Re: Maximum campaign file size?

@tiorthan Ah, yes. Good point there. While Daelomin might have just wanted to know about file size limits per se, it's also be helpful to know the impact to memory that detailed map work has on MT performance. BTW, are you still going to tackle VBL now that Jamz is working on it? While I have an al...

Re: Maximum campaign file size?

With regard to size, I don't think there's a limit set for that. There isn't a limit in MapTool but you define a limit when you set the maximum memory usage of your Java VM. However, there is no straight answer. We recently had a case on the forums where a campaign file of less than 70MB required a...

That's exactly why there's an Arch on my laptop :D I have Gentoo on my servers and desktop, though.

Re: Linux - Distributions

I prefer Gentoo's portage over Arch's pacman but building everything yourself is a little time consuming.

Re: 1.3.B.86 Bug - Player's PC blue screens of death on conn

I think it rather unlikely that this is a MT problem although MT might trigger some broken driver or hardware problem in his case.

Is there any version of MT that works?

Re: VBL via Macro Function

The problem with growing file sizes is not VBL though, it's FOW.

I've rewritten the patch in a way that should properly mask roll output from any chat translation functions.

Re: Curious Error / MT Bug

While you may feel that way about what you made, it was a timely solution that, by its nature, could be easily made more robust owing to how flexible it is. The reason why I had told you how I feel about my solution was that I had already layed out a clean though more invasive design. I've just fou...

Re: Curious Error / MT Bug

Well, I didn't dare touch any of the message mangling that might happen elsewhere. The chat panel uses tables for formatting so there are some restrictions to what's possible without changing the whole chat display. What's the HTML issue you were checking? My smiley translation uses a simple HTML pa...

[patch] Chat translation rules

This is a patch for the second issue in http://forums.rptools.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=22569&start=0 The attached patch introduces a new private class SmileyChatTranslationRuleGroup.SmileyTranslationRule which tries to parse chat messages as HTML and replaces smileys only in text elements. Ed...

Re: Curious Error / MT Bug

I have published a patch for the resource loading issue. It does not open a popup exception dialog since it is an rplib issue. It does however print a stack trace and MT continues to work and even shows a tooltip. I'm trying to find a way to tame the smiley replacement code. I also found what seems ...

[patch] Resource loading does not check return values.

http://forums.rptools.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=22569 describes an issue where an erro in resource loading in rplib can effectively block all event handling in MT. The attached patch adds the missing sanity check in net.rptools.lib.FileUtil.loadResource on the return value of ClassLoader.getResour...

Re: Curious Error / MT Bug

Ok, I'm going to write a fix.

I also found what seems to be an additional bug in url handling that is triggered by the invalid image url.

Re: Curious Error / MT Bug

There are two bugs here. The first is replacing a smiley inside of an HTML attribute which is a violation of the principle of least astonishment. This is not easily solved, as it requires an almost complete rewrite of the smiley replacement feature. The other bug is indeed in the code that throws th...
