Re: MT 1.3b57 Progress
It looks like that log fire is saved in 24-bit RGB. I'll bet that an 8-bit indexed image would be significantly smaller, but since my GIMP doesn't support it... It would seem to me that an 8-bit png would not be any better at supporting different levels of transparency than a GIF? I don't understan...

Re: MT 1.3b57 Progress
It would be nice to have animated gifs for campfires, pulsing starship engines, forcefields, etc. Any idea if these would be able to be implemented on tokens? Imagine a top-down that subtly moves, like an idle figure in StarCraft or similar. Of course, animated gifs have transparency edge problems, ...

Re: Hero 5th ED macro set, brad's
I'm not terribly concerned with tracking things like flashes or drains, since they arise very rarely in my campaign, and are easily enough tracked in the head. So I will not comment on the approach other than to say I will likely be satisfied with whatever solution is found. In my combat database, I...

Hmm. I just tried a new browser and the site was at the top of a Google search. Or am I not understanding the problem?

OK, there's a "remote exploit vulnerability" in something that doesn't really apply to 99.9% of my computing activity. I'm not terribly worried and still more than satisfied with the level of security I have. Is OS X invulnerable? Of course not. No OS is. It's a darn sight breezier than th...

Re: Graphics advice for a new MacBook Pro user
But again, those programs are interactive. Someone has to be there to start up the application and select the function/macro/whatever to start the process. IM can do the whole thing from the command line, meaning that it could be launched without any user interaction at all. You could save the whol...

Re: Graphics advice for a new MacBook Pro user
This would be a pretty straightforward problem for Photoshop, on any platform. Does anyone know if the GIMP has similar slicing ability?

Great Googlie-Mooglies. His product sounds like it could be used in conjunction with Maptool. Advertising? Sure it's advertising, and nothing wrong with that. People here might be able to use something like that. Spam? hardly. He didn't post and disappear. His post was well-constructed and polite. S...

Beautiful work, torstan!
I just looked at your site and you have a great style. Most of your stuff looks hand-done. What percentage of any given work is digital?

Heh, I didn't even check the date. I thought that Azhrei was a longer-time Mac user than that.
How did you solve your problem way back when, sir?

Do you have Photoshop? It should be dead easy to do with slices. Even Illustrator will do this in a pinch.

Re: Hero 5th ED macro set, brad's
First off, looks great. You really are going the full mile with these. I'm impressed that you are taking on as many optional rules and variables as you are. Couple of quick observations: When you get around to tracking DCV, you might want to include an encumbrance value for armor. This is mostly imp...

Yeah, I dropped the grid, too. It just makes mapping more intuitive and natural. It would be nice if you had an option to have the distance readout automatically round for you, rather thatn showing you the decimal portion, but that's just cosmetic. Brad, I am very excited about seeing your macros. I...

Re: An odd legal question
Here's a very informative page on the subject. I have repeated the relevant portion: On the topic, David Kenzer* says: [T]hat is not copyright infringement. [C]opyright infringement is basing your work on someone else’s creative expression. Rules are not creative expression. Also, it is not “based” ...
