Re: Gaming via Maptool Question

Sorry I took so long to get back to you. For how hard it is to set up, the answer is "it depends". I have my own domain, and I use some wiki software call Wikka Wiki to run it on my own sub-domain. Not everyone has their own domain, let alone know how to create sub-domains and install php ...

Re: Gaming via Maptool Question

I have a wiki for my campaign, and all of the players have a character sheet there. Not only do the character sheets reside there, it's used as a repository of knowledge for the campaign, and even as a means of roleplaying between characters between sessions.

Re: TokenMaker

now I happen to know that with 'general' you mainly have wfrp 2 in mind Well, yes and no. I do play WFRP2 w/ MT currently, so that's what I mentioned in my other threads, but I'm also working on the beginnings of a Traveller campaign using MT, and I also regularly play D&D 3.5e (probably moving...

Re: Any CC3 templates for RPTools?

I've just been exporting my CC3 maps to png files, then loading them into MT, and adjusting the grid from there. Over all it's been pretty easy - there are two key things - One is to have a scale bar or something similar that you can use in MT to adjust the grid to the right size, the other is to ca...

Re: TokenMaker

Are you concentrating on this being specifically for D&D, or a more general tool?

I'd love to see a more general tool, along the lines of what I suggested in this thread awhile back:

Re: Prevent PC's from editing their tokens?

Wouldn't the easiest solution be to have a comparator macro? If the GM regularly makes copies of the player tokens, a macro that would allow them to compare the stats between any two tokens and point out differences should quickly highlight any cheating. Basically the equivilent of a face to face GM...

Re: Live Typing Notification

I'm coming into this a little late, but I wanted to add some feedback. I beleive I was the one who started the blowout about GM being able to see other players whispers - what I was really looking for is something like Rumble's been working on - a Live Typing Notification, and the conversation digre...

User Interface and/or HTML resources

Long story short: Engineer let slip that the interface of our new embedded product can be written in HTML somewhat seperate from the underlying code - which means that I have enough knowledge to tackle the interface side of things while he handles the back end code. Rather than wait for him to add t...

Re: So, I hate my job.

Honestly, in some ways, i think this is a failing of the american school system, to an extent. Now, i'm not saying it's "bad" in terms of getting a poor education, but rather coming out of highschool, i really had no idea what i truly wanted to do, i had spend 5 semesters in video product...

Re: So, I hate my job.

Seems like call center bosses, by nature, are experts at the "dangle a carrot, never actually give it to you" strategy. Beware! Mostly because that's a strategy they've developed for dealing with customers...(I wish I was completely kidding by saying that.) Any sort of customer service/ca...

Re: New VTT - Scenegrinder

Really? I wasn't aware that unattended operation was such a huge feature... It's not just the unattended operation - the notifications portion of it caught my attention, too. Yes, I could leave MT running most/all of the time if I wanted to, but the mention of the feature in Scenegrinder immediatel...

Re: Maptool Concepts: The Next UI, Look, and Feel

I like your layout there notsonoble - looks like a real good base to lay many of the other ideas on. Mrugnuk - you really clicked on a pat peeve of mine with Windows programs - I am one of those people who prefers to have my task bar on the left side of my desktop, not the bottom as is the Windows d...

Re: New VTT - Scenegrinder

A variant on it would be to give the GM an a break, or even a free account, at some some player threshold. Not sure, but its worth tossing around. Earning a free or discounted GM account would be nice, but I'd like to point out it means little to you or the GMs if the GMs have a hard time recruitin...

Re: New VTT - Scenegrinder

Screengrinder still has incomplete platform support (which comes to me as more important in a strictly web-based system). Other than Jerry's post above where he mentions issues with IE, and iPhone/iPad, I'm not sure where you're getting this "incomplete platform support" - there is nothin...
