Re: New VTT - Scenegrinder
This plus one other thing... I have hard time paying for the use of unfinished products, unfortunately a VTT of this nature is always going to be an unfinished product. I'm kind of like you in that regard, however, in today's day and age, just about everything with software is an unfinished product...

Re: Slinging Dialog Boxes
As for "has it been suggested," I'm sure it has. One problem is that the devs were (IIRC) concerned with the potential to "spam" dialogs on another person's machine, but I don't know how valid that concern is. I would think that would depend on how it's implemented. While I as a...

Re: New VTT - Scenegrinder
Jerry: Thanks for commenting. I don't know that your service would replace Maptools for me, but it certainly has some things that I am interested in. If anything, I think it could become a real viable option for Play by Email/Forum Post for me, my campaign and some of my more time strapped players. ...

Re: Maptool Concepts: The Next UI, Look, and Feel
On the topic though, I do not feel we should go "futuristic" with the UI..it would look awfully odd staring at circuitry while your token is wearing platemail wielding a sword. Visa versa, a medieval UI would look messed up playing a futuristic game...how about selectable skins? Not sure ...

Re: something i have to get off my chest
I agree with most of what you say Darinth, however, it works the other way, too. A lot is said about GMs accomodating players desires/wishes, but very little is ever said about the player's responsibities in that department as well. If I'm running a game that 5 out of 6 players are happy with, playe...

Re: 5 reasons to look for something other than an iPhone
Concerning my list of examples, try modifying the programming in your car's ECU. The next time you have a service appt, they'll reflash it with factory software again. This is not entirely because they want to restrict what you can do with the ECU - a large part of it is because there are constant ...

Re: Odd PC's...
The Wemic is a great example of a race that fits in certain settings, but not others. If I were running an FR campaign, I could easily work one in to most of my ideas - they're integrated into the setting. I could probably figure out a way to have one in my homebrew D&D 3.5e Yrazul setting, desp...

Re: Odd PC's...
Like I said, you should be comfortable with it as a GM for your game setting . Emphasis mine. Game setting is a huge part of it for me. I ran a d20 Modern game where the PCs learned they had dragon blood and could morph into full blown metallic dragons, and became involved in a centuries old hidden...

Re: Odd PC's...
As a GM, in my primary campaign setting, I can't stand the "odd" character types. This is for two reasons. First and foremost, my setting is fairly mundane - while there are elves, dwarves, humans and orcs, the rest of the races are very, very unique, if they are there at all. Things like ...

Re: something i have to get off my chest
If you got "demoted" to player status, make sure you show them that you can have a good time without all the fancy crap - stick with a character type that is basic core, and play creatively. I used to belong to a similar group, and my weak illusionist side tracked more than one battle with...

Re: "Currently chatting" status indicator - is it planned?
I hope a similar feature gets implemented. I've been working on a workaround private messaging macro for that very same reason - what I'm doing is creating a input box where the players can type their text and select which players it's to be whispered to. It sends off the text to the selected player...

Re: Tokens changing names when changing maps
Hmm - ok, should have gathered more specifics at the time. It actually happened twice, and I have some ideas on what it may be, but haven't checked it out. None of the PCs changed names, nor did three of the horses, which are set to NPC. I believe that all of those tokens were saved as part of the f...

Tokens changing names when changing maps
Something happened during my last session that I didn't understand. We had 23 tokens for the adventuring party (6 PCs, 5 NPCs, their 11 horses and one dog) that I cut and pasted from one map to another when they went from one zone to another. Upon pasting into the new map, several - but not all - of...

Re: Maptool Concepts: The Next UI, Look, and Feel
All this discussion and idea bashing is great. But when and who decides what 1.4 will actually look like? My guess is that Trevor and all the other developers/coders will take a look at the things we've proposed here and elsewhere, combine it with their own ideas/thoughts, and put something togethe...

Re: Maptool Concepts: The Next UI, Look, and Feel
If this is a specific issue that has been raised by the userbase, that's fine, but otherwise isn't it additional complexity for no demand? I did raise the specific complaint that, right now, MT's use of terms is too ambigous and confusing. Specifically, the term Token. In most games, a Token is not...
