How to simulate Fog- not fog of war type

Hello I just downloaded the latest version of Maptool, and it has been a while, I think version 63 was my last, and am not up on all the new stuff. I have a game coming up this Sunday and want to simulate the effects of heavy fog both in daylight and inside a dungeon. Here are my conditions; We are ...

Re: Maptool Concepts: The Next UI, Look, and Feel

I have some issues with that setup - the biggest two are first, I wouldn't want to have the resource library tied to a particular layer. I use and reuse images in many ways, and I would not want to have to first copy a particular image into another library before I can place it on a particular laye...

Re: Maptool Concepts: The Next UI, Look, and Feel

A more intuitive interface would be welcome by all indeed. One gets comfy with the tools learned tho and it's hard to think of how it could get any better than it is, and that pretty much goes along with everyone else, and there are great ideas here. So I thought about it a while as I was mapping an...

Re: Can I Serve a game and run a client on same Puter?

Hi,

I bypassed the router and connected straight to the moden and I can connect fine so it must be port forwarding on the router or something to that effect. I will config the router after tonight's session.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

Re: POLL: Do you actually use FOW and Dynamic Lighting?

I will cast my lot, I use FOW, Lighting and VBL to make dungeon crawls and structures with rooms. I use FOW & VBL for romping thru forests etc. We love that you can reveal explorations as you go. We also use vision, and light sources so the characters always know what they can actually see. Thei...

Re: VBL "Stamps"

Could it be possible to use vectors created in other programs, such as CorelDRAW! or Inkscape? (I never used inkscape but it is open source and free) You could import your bitmap into Corel and then draw topology over the bitmap on a different layer then the vectors can be exported to a particular a...

Re: Can I Serve a game and run a client on same Puter?

Sorry, I should have been more specific. And I apologize for having to bug you guys. For years we have used maptool at F2F games and I used direct or LAN, but never used rptools.net hosting and never had conn problems. We are not on a LAN and trying for the first time to go online. we are using the ...

Re: Can I Serve a game and run a client on same Puter?

My buddy and I are at our respective computers and I open maptool and create a server using the RPtools.net host. I name it z.COC, no pass needed then I open a second instance of maptool and select Connect to Server, and I see z.COC listed and double click it and get the above error.. The same thing...

Can I Serve a game and run a client on same Puter?

The reason; To monitor the Served game's output. I would be connecting to the server rptools provides in the connection panel. I tried it but I keep getting a, "Could Not Load Campaign java.net.ConnectionException: Connection refused: connect" ...and would running like this cause too great...

Thanks for the replies.

I did not know about the wiki, its an awesome thing

I might suggest that a "beginner" link be put on the help dialoge linking directly to that page.

Hello again all, Its been a while since I posted. It's great to see rptools thrives. We use maptool at our once-a-month F2F game sessions for a number of years now, and I have seen the great video tutorials using LBL and such and that among other things has been a very useful tool for us. Recently a...

I am making a huge maze, which from an RPG standpoint will be a Deep Forest. I have created so far a dozen tree looking objects with various shapes, T's and X's and L's and among others, which represent "impassable" stands of trees that the players will have to negotiate to find something ...

Re: Running an offline game with dual monitors

We use maptool in F2F games If you have a couple friends with laptops, create an ad-hoc wireless laptop network Then the players have control of their tokens from the "player" laptop. Also, I map an external hard drive and share it with the players so I can drop documents, maps and picture...

CoC D&D 3rd ed

Hello! I was wondering if anyone has developed a character sheet for Call of Cthulhu for 3rd edition D&D? I havent tried Character tool yet, but if a CoC sheet is available it might prove useful. By the same token I was thinking that a 3rd ed sheet generic might work just as well. Any thoughts? ...
