Re: MapTool on Ubuntu with command lines

I'm trying to set it up on a ubuntu server, without any GUI (in other words, in command lines). This will not work. MapTool requires use of the GUI to start a server. There have been some partially successful attempts to modify the source code to allow this to be done, but none that have been imple...

Re: Win Surface with Win RT

From the OS section of the specifications listed: Works exclusively with apps available in the Windows Store. Windows RT has no way to install software other than the Windows App Store. Microsoft does not distribute a version of Java through that app store. RT will not run MapTool. At least not with...

Re: Newbie - am I doing this right?

DaveC, MapTool *can* be used to make maps for printing, but it isn't ideal. Many of it's controls are devised with the idea of real-time manipulation during a currently running game. There are 4 layers onto which you can drop images: Token, Hidden, Object and Background. On the Token layer, things r...

Re: Basic Dice Rolling Macro (xd20+y)

Somewhat simpler way
input
concat or strformat
eval

Code: Select all

[input("NumberOfDice", "Modifier")]
[
outputString=strformat("%{NumberOfDice}d20+%{Modifier}")]
[
FinalValue=eval(outputString)]

Re: Networking Help!!!

Check your Java version. Do you maybe have this Problem?: Attention: Windows Users using JAVA 7 with MapTool Especially Java 7u10+ have a problem with Java wildcards that do stop the .bat files and the Launcher from working. To check your Java version, open a command prompt. (Windows XP = Start->Pr...

Re: Networking Help!!!

Try using the supplied *.BAT files to launch MapTool. It contains -Xss and -Xmx entries that allow you to change the stack and max memory, respectively.

Re: Map Tools bug

You will find help in the announcements forum, here to be precise: http://forums.rptools.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=21856 So... why is that in the general announcements forum, but not stickied in the MapTool forum that people are more likely to search to find a fix for a MapTool bug? There is a Ja...

Re: Wanting to create tooltips on the map

aliasmask's tip also works if the object is on the object layer (hidden or not, depending on whether you want PCs to read the notes). The trick is to make sure the text you want is in the Notes field of the token and have the Token layer active. Then, clicking on the object will popup the notes wher...

Re: Resizing the Layout?

It's a property of a token somewhere, right? It's a property of the token, but it's not a token property. The first is using the common English definition of "property". The second is using the MapTool specific term of art "property". The two are not the same. Macros can only op...

Re: Number always resulting in 0 inside an if statment

Great so I found if I started using an alternative count down it works correctly, however now I am trying to build something a little more complicated. For this I am trying to add in an ability that can either be a standard of a swift action, and cannot give a bonus greater then 25 if swift (11 poi...

Re: Number always resulting in 0 inside an if statment

Your while loop decrements "usage", possibly to zero. You then determine the bonus my multiplying "usage" by 4, but "usage" may now be 0. Use another temporary variable to count the while loop without changing the value of "usage" to preserver it's inputed val...
