But if I assign it vision, and it's behind a wall or door, would players be able to see behind walls? Yup. That's why said to disable/enable the visions as needed. When they open the door, you enable the vision. If the door is closed you disable it. With the current implementation, Vision does reve...

Other than the fact that the light functionality as it is now is going away? :) If you are using topology there is pretty much no reason to use the Light functions. Vision is really light in the current VBL/Topology setup. It reveals an area to everybody. Assign your sconces, torches, lamps and can...

Topology and Light
I know there are plans to better integrate light and vision with topology, but is there a reason why light fixed on a stamped object or token cannot be restricted by topology? Basically, I'd like to set up sconces and restrict the emanating light from passing through topology (i.e. walls, doors, etc).
.... now, if I can just find where all my time went so I can work on that :) I used to be an instructional/technical writer and was thinking of contributing to that effort for MapTool, but I really don't have the time to dedicate to that truthfully. I think I'd have a hard time justifying the time ...
We actually have a community contributable wiki for the documentation, but it can't keep up with the changes either :P http://rptools.net/doku.php?id=maptooldoc_1_2:intro Which would fill the need of feature tracking and help. For a summary of ongoing changes, you can look at the changelog: http://...
So I could mark areas with traps, secret doors, etc. Fantastic! As an aside, would it be feasible to have a sticky post of accumulated new/changed features in MapTool? As someone who doesn't follow the forums down to every thread and post, I am having a hard time keeping up with the drastic number o...

Welcome Amaril ! Also, it may not be obvious, but if you select one or more token or stamps, you can hold shift and use the mouse wheel to rotate, hold ctrl to free rotate. This can be used for some really great visual effect. I remember being in one of Dorpond's demos, there were a bunch of zombie...

Hmmm. If the idea is to reduce the read/writes to the usb disk to prolong its life, one thing you _could_ do is to write a small batch script that you can run that copies the images directory to a known location on the host machine, and one to clean it up after. That way the browsing comes from the...

In order to conserve memory, the Image Explorer reloads each image (or a thumbnail of it if it's a bigger than 10k bytes I think). In your description it looks like you have a lot of images in the image explorer. That could cause a lot of disk usage if you browse it a lot. Note though that if you u...

Luckily, most of the content was pulled from other sources I had on my hard drive already. The only thing new was an added map in the campaign file. As an aside, I actually use MS SyncToy for synchronizing my RPTools folder between the hard drive and the flash drive. Regarding the write caching, tha...

MapTool Killed My Flash Drive? (not an accusation)
OK, I'm trying not to cry. :( I had a 1GB flash drive on which I had a local copy of MapTools, TokenTool, Fiery Dragon's Counter Collection Digital Gold 2.0, maps, and campaign files among other files. Last night I was working with the RC of MapTool 1.2 and adding VBL to one of my campaign files. I ...
