Re: Designing a Welcome Screen: Your thoughts

+1 for Rumble's suggestion.

The only thing I would add would be the little checkbox at the bottom to tick if you don't want the screen to display again and the screen should be retrievable by selecting Help > Welcome Screen

Are StackOverflows somehow cached?

Strange question I know ;) I was just starting to do some work on a framework last night when I received a stackOverflow on an old, tried and trusted macro. I was running Build 70 and was connected to a server on a different machine. The macro in question was a version of the Character Sheet Editor ...

Re: MapTool 1.4

A feature I would be very keen to see updated for 1.4 is the Chat Log. Saving and reloading the chat log is a must, but I would also like to see something similar to the way Skype manages past chat. But whereas Skype groups chat by "Call" Maptool would group chat by "Session". Ma...

Hammer of Time - Hero System 5E - Supers

Campaign Background: A mismatched collection of heroes meet up while in Scotland investigating reports of criminals acquiring super powers. Through a strange series of largely self-inflicted events they find themselves in a barren future that barely survived an invasion of alien power drainers. Whe...

Re: MapTool 1.4

Correct. Only the GM will be able to load JavaScript macros/libraries. If your GM trusts you to make macros then it wont be hard for you to send the JavaScript and them to load it :) Essentially since there will be not be trusted/non trusted functions because it causes too much headaches only GMs w...

That's my fear. Still, it looks cool. :-) Most of the game companies would care with DnD being the one that would.
I don't know about that, Games Workshop have been very quick to unleash the lawyers in the recent past.

Just the Players Handbook I think. However, although I've not used them myself, I believe it would be worth your while taking a look at Pathfinder.

Re: Brand new, have a few questions (D&D)

If so, I have to say that I would likely go with 4E. The complexity of the full game, which would scare some people away from learning the game, is something I really enjoy (as an example, I used to get a kick out of rolling Shadowrun characters). Also, I would want to play around with the differen...

Re: Brand new, have a few questions (D&D)

The Essentials line is very good (imo) BUT it does have a certain "streamlined" style that may not be exactly what you are looking for, if you've played before. I think that Wizards of the Coast have confused things for new people by marketing both 4e and Essentials, which are really two d...

Re: Writing Complex Strings to Campaign Properties

On a side note Nolgroth, when I made the change to the Hero System dice function I deliberately avoided changing how theherostun and herobody functions work. So they still won't accept decimals. Seeing what you are doing I am wondering if that was the best decision?

Re: Maptool Concepts: The Next UI, Look, and Feel

I don't expect one as complex as MapTool to be mastered in 10 minutes, but I think a short time like that a good thing, not a bad one But you'd like the player-basics to be masterable in 10 minutes, maybe less. Then you just have to agree what makes up the "player-basics" ;) On the differ...

Re: MapTool and Super Heroes

Yep... one question... since I know there are a few other people who use Hero system here, is the previous behavior something they just lived with OR are there different versions of the game system with difference dice mechanics? The reason I ask this is perhaps using a different dice code format m...

Re: MapTool and Super Heroes

It really is funny how much easier it is in the java than in the macro code :D Yep! Which I think is the trap that most VTTs fall into -- "We'll do it in Java/C/whatever because it's easier, but then we'll be tied to a particular game system and the users won't be able to change it. Oh well; t...

You mean a standard predicated on Windows? ;)
I did put it is quotes. Didn't you see me doing the finger-quote thing? ;)
