Re: Drawing Tools need scaling of textures...

I've been trying to work in GIMP (Windows), but I just can't get the hang of it. The floaty windows that don't dock annoy me. I'm so used to my antiquated (and quite lost) copy of Paint Shop Pro. Very sad story. Stick with it; it's a great program. The interface, however, is designed with sloppy fo...

Re: Discussion: Movement Proposal

Very cool mockup. My first thought, though, is the speed of the token. If the token moved at a constant speed, you'd have problems with long distances. I'm sure some kind of switch could help though (under 3 squares, move 1x speed, under 10 squares, move 2x speed, under 100 squares move 5x speed, o...

Re: [b55] Assets on other maps are downloaded in the background

 Yeah, because community asset pak's with commonly used textures, tiles, and other objects would never ever be made available for players and dm's alike to use. Every dm has to assemble all their map resources and assets themselves from scratch. Point 1: You're asking all your players ...

Re: Discussion: Movement Proposal

Looks fantastic. Very well thought-out solution. I can see the intrinsic benefits of it in terms of flexibility and codability. Excellent work. I'm impressed.

Re: [b55] Assets on other maps are downloaded in the background

No, I'm providing a counter solution. No, it's a complimentary solution, and nothing more. long list of good reasons... Even worse, such a system as a "counter-solution" would take away the GM's ability to do what is, in fact, the essence of DMing: smoothly adapting to the situation at-ha...

Abuuh?

A full token with properties is actually larger than just its image.

Re: MapTool 1.3 Development Build 55

Seconding right back atchya. For me "Saving A Map" means the pretty stuff that I move my tokens around on top of. So that would be Background and Object layer, drawings and stamps. Oh and VBL I guess (though I don't personally use that). No tokens, campaign properties, states or anything ...

Re: Few Maps or Many Maps+some questions

Can you lock players from moving the map on their screen and perma locking them to the GM view? I could force them to the view, but they could go wandering off again, right-dragging. Yes, use the force players to current view (continuous) in the tools menu. Small technicality: that doesn't actually...

Re: Token Pop Up Message

I like putting a dummy token on the Hidden Layer with the stats and relevant info (or a screencap of its stat block), one for each type of monster in the encounter. That way, I can always just click that one to look up any info I need, and also gives me a convenient place to put tactical notes, the ...

Re: difference between hidden layer and 'not visible to players'

First, you can make multiple tokens visible to players simultaneously in much the same way as you change their layers simultaneously: there's a 'Visible to Players' checkbox in that exact same context menu. However, the big difference, I've found, is that the Hidden Layer acts like the Object Layer ...

Re: MapTool 1.3 Development Build 55

This could be a bug. I assigned a macro I made to a function key, and when I press it it asks for a token.name variable. The macro works fine from the button, which of course applies to the selected token. So I think running the same macro with an assigned key should work exactly the same. Well, as...

Re: Map swapping

The different maps, I believe, are only transferred as-needed. If you never open the map within a session, it should never be loaded.

I'm new, too, but this is my understanding based on what I've observed.

Re: MapTool 1.3 Development Build 55

Ok... assuming your first statement match my question, then the answer is that funny things happen when you modify the grid after creating the map, mainly when you have tokens on there with snap to grid on and then modify the grid. Not sure if thats your issue or not, but it is a known issue becaus...

Anyone have a good link? Maybe an upload to zshare or the like?

Thanks!
The one on page 1 is the old version, anyway. Use the one on page 4.
