MapTool 1.7.0 Release

Download 1.7.0 release here.

Many thanks go out to the community members who contributed code, documentation, translations and time in testing the builds.

A long list of new features and bug fixes can be found in the Change Log for 1.7.0.

Highlights
  • New macro functions for math operations on lists and arrays.
  • New Macro function markdownToHTML() converts text in Markdown to HTML.
  • nmeier has brought the majority of the MapTool UI under the control the Look & Feel themes accessible from the Themes menu.
  • New GM option to disable the use of the Edit Token dialog by players.
  • Issue with decimal point in Map Units per Cell for European locales fixed.
  • New overlay() function allows for transparent overlays over the map area. Think MMORPG-like GUI elements.
  • New Overlay helper functions for management.
  • Huge localization effort by Merudo has brought translatable strings to the majority of the MapTool dialogs.
  • MapTool can now import the Dungeondraft VTT export format.
Documentation for new features is lagging a bit so check the associated issue which is linked from the Change Log if you can't find it.

Thanks very much! It seems there's a blank "placeholder" area separated by a vertical grey line at the beginning of chat messages made without an impersonated token as of this update. Is there a way to disable that change? I've had no luck picking through the change log or Preferences. I do notice if one disables per-line avatars this space disappears, although the line remains, so that seems not quite to be what I'm looking for.

The padding on the left has always been there for chat output or standard output from macros. If you use Wiki: broadcast() that goes away.

What changed is that the user/token name is now part of the first line of output to avoid situations like this:

Now you get this:

Sorry, perhaps I should clarify a little. (By the way, I love your examples) You're right, essentially, when tokens are impersonated, it works more or less as it did before. When a token is not impersonated, however, there's still a "placeholder" area where the impersonated token would be if you were impersonating one, which wasn't the case previously. (Unless you turn off per-line avatars, in which case there's just a grey vertical line.) I can see some appeal in this (it means the chat messages all line up on the left side whether impersonated or not), but I was curious if it could be disabled or toggled in some manner.
