So it's 48"x30" with 1" hexes?

Hex scale? 1 mile per hex? 5 miles per hex? From the product image it appears to be quite a bit smaller scale then that. Perhaps only 50 yards per hex or so.

1" hexes with each representing 5 miles is the scale suggested by the artist, Simon. Generally it is 3-5 hexes of travel from a village to a road inn and then 3-5 hexes more to the next town for long distances or 3-5 hexes for a day away. So travel is around two days along the road between most villages. You can set the travel rate at whatever you would like for world distance like 20-25 miles per hex if desired which would greatly increase travel times. I suggest using a token marker for group location and you can easily use it to track the group as they move around the map each day. Then use smaller local area maps (some are suggested in the pdf for some locations/terrains) for combat in those areas as needed.
