The Horn of Abbadon still stands even after a determined Inquisitor of Aroden attacked.

We played a fun session of the Way of the Wicked last night. Lots of killing. The group made it to the halfway mark in the Ritual Ceremony to free Vetra-Kali from his entombment. Only 111 more days to go, what could go wrong?

We played a Session of Way of the Wicked last night although a good deal of time was spent leveling up and getting a new player acclimated to MapTool. We still managed to do one fairly difficult fight. Although there was a single opponent his Dimension Door technique and the excellent Fog of War built into MapTool made for a hide-and-seek sort of battle.

It's one of those things that after you've been using MapTool a while you kind of forget about. On a whiteboard or tabletop I would have had to try and remember where the Ashen Nightmare was at all times but with Fog of War and Vision Blocking it was very realistic. Awesome! Boggards were running around in circles and then one would spot the creature and start yelling, "There he is!". It was a lot of fun.

The Banner Verdant invaded the Horn of Abbadon and resulted in this session of the Way of the Wicked being largely a long battle.

The defenses of the Horn were weakened but eventually the invaders were overcome thanks in no small part to Artephius the Alchemical Golem whose Fire Bombs from above proved the deciding factor in the battle.

The Cocytian Knot came a calling and there was much vengeance to be had at the Horn of Abbadon in this Week's Session of the Way of the Wicked. Read all about it and see a screenshot!

The defense of the Horn of Abbadon continues! We played another session of Way of the Wicked last night and the players disposed of yet another invading band. There was a disturbing reappearance of the Silver Dragon and a number of Boggard allies met their end.

Once again our Misunderstood Champions defended the Horn of the Abbadon in this week's session of Way of the Wicked.

They slew an honorable band of knights who insisted on "fair" combat on open ground and a much more difficult foe that had no problem attacking from ambush and using invisibility to their best advantage.

It's coming down to the final days at the Horn of Abbadon as we played our latest session of Way of the Wicked.

There are only three days left before Fearsome Vetra-Kali is summoned and the group must bargain with their lives for the Tears. Will they survive the terrible final assaults or will Good win out?

The final session of Book Two - Call Forth Darkness is in the books.

The group fought off a Silver Dragon although lost several of their most powerful allies. Then they defeated a group of Holy Knights bent upon vengeance. Finally they released great Vetra-Kali, bargained with the Eyes of Vetra-Kali, and forever left the Horn of Abbadon behind. If only their memories could be similarly purged of that awful place.

We moved on to the third book of Way of the Wicked: Tears of the Blessed.

This session was largely a fact finding session and the group avoided a couple of optional combats so there aren't any good MapTool screen captures this week. I'm a little disappointed in this module in that the writer has the group sitting idly for a month and gives the GM some Side-quest Ideas to flesh out. I would have loved to seen half a dozen small side-quests fully written and added to the game.

I went ahead and did them so the group will have something to do for the month but this is my first substantial quibble with what has been up-to-now a fantastic campaign. The group is having a great time being evil and it's fun to recap the various vile deeds they've committed. Sometimes when I reference the awful things they've done in the recaps they become somewhat uncomfortable!

The group continued to plan for the eventual assault on the Vale of Valteraena in the latest Session of Way of the Wicked.

They didn't bite at most of the side-quests I offered although did watch the mayhem at the Golden Palace and the Pit. They managed to get involved in one combat before heading north to meet the Fire-Axe and get reinforcements for their attack on the Vale. Next week should be almost all battles as they make the attack.

In this session of Way of the Wicked, the group finished gathering all their allies and headed to the Vale to plot out the attack. The defenses proved daunting but they were able to scout the Watchtower effectively and planned for an assault in the next session.

It should be a brutal series of battles coming up.

Last night's session was an absolutely marathon battle as the group assaulted the Saintsbridge Gate and began the Battle of the Vale.

Rather than play by the Victory Conditions laid out in the module, I stocked the fort with nearly seventy defenders and the group battled them all with not only the PCs but also the PC allies. It took us over four hours to play through twenty-two combat rounds in which over eighty characters took a turn in each round. Without MapTool it would have been impossible, even then it was an ordeal.

It was a brutally difficult fight with the PC characters acting largely as healing batteries (our brick was AWOL) while the allies slowly whittled down the defenders.

The group split into two parties to assault from different directions and there ended up being three separate main battles with fortress reinforcements arriving at regular intervals. The group lost a number of allies but no PCs.

There is no rest in Way of the Wicked! The counterattacks begin immediately.

The Vale of Valtaerana came under attack in this session of Way of the Wicked.

The group split into assault teams leading their bugbear warriors to the battle and although many allies were lost in the fight the battle was all but won. Only one bridge now stands between them and the Holy City of Sanctum.

Again MapTool was essential with so many tokens on the board. Without a VTT these five battles never could have been done in a single session. There were generally 50 or more tokens on the board for each fight and trying to do all that on a physical board without macros would have taken many times longer. Thanks MapTool and Community.

Our heroes captured the Vale of Valtaerna in yesterday's session of Way of the Wicked and began their administration of the place. Mercy was shown in general although some eggs must be broken.

The group gathered information about the Mountain of the Phoenix and the Cathedral of Aroden Made Manifest and dallied for a bit while they girded their loins for the final assault on the inner sanctum of mighty Aroden himself.

With the Vale and Sanctum properly subdued the group headed to the Mountain of the Phoenix in this Session of Way of the Wicked.

They managed to drive away the great beast and proceeded on towards the Temple of Aroden Made Manifest with the hopes of sacking the place.

It was nice to have a few fights with just ten or so tokens on the board after all the mass battles of the last few weeks. None of the three battles lasted more than about 45 minutes and my tweaks to my Framework seem to be helping!
