CharTool Mac error report

Post by Frankie »

Launched CharTool, clicked Game, Select Game, D&D 4e, checked the various sources, clicked OK. It hung for a while then displayed this error:

Wow, that's weird. It looks like the CharTool app tried to open and read a Windows binary executable! The first few bytes ("MZ") and the string that appears later indicates that it's a Windows program!

I can't imagine how that happened, especially on a Mac -- where would it get the file from?

I'll try giving CT a run on my MBP some time today if I get a chance. Can you explain how you run it? Is it from the ZIP download or by launching it directly from the web site (using Java Web Start)? Which version of CT did you run?

CharTool 1.0b15 downloaded from RPTools site, launched by double-clicking.

Okay, I did some differential testing and found the source of the problem. Silverlight.exe is packaged inside ~/.chartool/game/dnd4e-veggiesama-macros.rpgame

Um... Bizarre.

I've removed that from the archive and uploaded a new version, plus committed the corrected file to SVN. Hopefully that's everything. (The InitTool uses those files as well, so any problems associated with InitTool should be corrected too.)
