Might sound like a strange request.
I would like a layer than can be the input from a webcam/camera.
My purpose would be for use with Tabletop Miniatures games (and a 3d battlefield) in conjunction with an overhanging projector. It would allow placement of items such as deployment zones, hidden units, traps, minefields, artillery strikes, etc on the hidden/token layer and shown when needed. Ideally the layer would only be visible to the GM as a reference for plotting the location of hidden items. (although it could just be set to GM visible only). The reason for a webcam is for a live input as troops move around the battlefield.

That's a new one for sure.
On the list for MT 2.0 is animated backgrounds. Using a live video feed instead of a looping mp4 file might be possible but could have bandwidth issues if the GM server was relaying it out to multiple clients across the net.

Even if it could be set to take a "snapshot" for the layer at a set interval would be good.
