[1.3b56] Move tokens across maps? Duplication?
Two noob questions here...
How do I move a token from one map to another? For instance, if I have tokens for the PCs, and three encounters in the campaign file (with each encounter represented by a map of its own), how do I move the PC tokens from Map 1 to Map 2, etc.?
Also, how do I duplicate a token? i.e., once I create a token and edit it to add all the properties I want and whatnot, I'd like to be able to simply duplicate it. Clicking on the token, hitting copy, and then hitting paste, does not work (I'm using a Mac, FYI). In other words, if I'm setting up Kobold Scrounger 1, I'd like to make an exact copy of him, same stats and portrait and whatnot, Kobold Scrounger 2.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: Move tokens across maps? Duplication?
You can do it with Copy(Ctrl-C)/Paste(Ctrl-V) or Cut(Ctrl-X)/Paste(Ctrl-V).Amberyl wrote:How do I move a token from one map to another? Cut is better as it avoids having the same token on different maps with potentially different values in things like stats and hitpoints.
Copy(Ctrl-C)/Paste(Ctrl-V) should still work even on a Mac.Amberyl wrote:Also, how do I duplicate a token?
Re: Move tokens across maps? Duplication?
Looks like there's a bug, as follows:
The keyboard shortcuts work (cmd-c/x/v on the Mac).
However, the right-click and drop-down menus do not. For instance, selecting Cut from the right-click menu on the token makes the token disappear. However, the cut token appears to simply vanish -- it cannot then be pasted.

Confirmed under XP and SuSE 11.1
The only valid measurement of code quality: WTFs / minute

Works fine for me. Select token. Right-click select Cut. Click on map and hit Ctrl-V. Token is pasted back to map.

Curious..
I haven't tested it yet but I am curious is it works when selecting a group?

Re: Move tokens across maps? Duplication?
Yes, it does work with groups. But I discovered something interesting.
If you haven't used the shortcut key (Ctrl-X) first, the right-click menu Cut option does remove it but Paste (Ctrl-V) doesn't restore it.
If you use Ctrl-X first, then subsequent uses of the Cut menu option do work.

That's very interesting, Phergus!
I don't recall there being different code between a token right-click and the keystrokes. However, there are separate right-click menus all over the place and it's possible there's a difference that I didn't catch. I've got some campaign work to do, then your data collection tool, and then I can take a look at this.

If I get a chance over the next few days I'll take a look as well.

Re: [1.3b56] Move tokens across maps? Duplication?
I just followed the steps, and it works as expected. It's possible that between using the menu Cut and the keyboard paste, the map lost keyboard focus ?
But what I did find is that the Edit->Paste menu option doesn't work.
It is now fixed for 1.3b59

Dreaming of a 1.3 release
