Hosting alternatives

Post by Ethan D. »

Because of circumstances that I feel isn't worth elaborating here, I am unable to host MapTools through the usual method of port forwarding. So I was wondering if there are any plans for new methods of hosting or not? I know there's UPnP, but I am unsure on how to get it working for me.

UPnP is just an automated way for Maptool to open a port on your router.

Hosting is always on your machine, except for a very experimental way someone wrote about to run one on AWS.

If you can't open a port you may have to use a VPN.

Mind elaborating on the steps for using VPN to host MapTools?

He means using a VPN like Hamachi: https://vpn.net/

Maptool is the Millennium Falcon of VTT's -- "She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts."
