Hi there,
in Maptool there are the standard sizes for tokens (1x1 to 6x6) but how could i add some new sizes? Especially sizes like 12x6 or 8x3.
Unusual Token sizes?

Unless something has changed (quite possible, I'm just returning to MT after a few years without a need), the "descriptive" token sizes are all hard coded. With that said, if you switch a token to the object layer, you can free size it, and then switch it back to token, and it will retain its shape.

i thought it was background layer (well actually I'm sure that you can change size there) but its possible that it works on both object and background.aku wrote:Unless something has changed (quite possible, I'm just returning to MT after a few years without a need), the "descriptive" token sizes are all hard coded. Well, then it is both, because my memory is so hazy, I specifically tried it and did it on the object layer.wolph42 wrote:i thought it was background layer (well actually I'm sure that you can change size there) but its possible that it works on both object and background.aku wrote:Unless something has changed (quite possible, I'm just returning to MT after a few years without a need), the "descriptive" token sizes are all hard coded. Re: Unusual Token sizes?
Yep, correct. There's no way for a user to modify the sizes that are available. Sad, huh?
There is an XML file buried in the JAR file somewhere that contains the footprint layouts of tokens and their relative scales. But even if you modify that file and reinsert the new one into the JAR, it still wouldn't work correctly. There are spots in the code that treat the list of sizes as an array and index into it to find information. (That's some ugly code, but changing it will require touching little pieces of code all over the place and that's just a recipe for hard-to-find bugs that you won't detect until many weeks/months/years down the road. When it's impossible to figure out what the issue is.)

Where could i get an open source version of MapTool? I have some knowledge about JAVA programming.Azhrei wrote:Yep, correct. There's no way for a user to modify the sizes that are available. Sad, huh?

Um, they're all open source.kingpin000 wrote:Where could i get an open source version of MapTool? I have some knowledge about JAVA programming.
Check out the Developer Notes forum. There's a post regarding how to set up Eclipse so that the Subclipse SVN plugin can checkout the code from SourceForge.net.
