Win Surface with Win RT

Post by Elorebaen »

Hello

I am hoping there are some tech-saavy folks that can help. Would Maptool work with a Win Surface with RT?

Thanks!

have you tried downloading java if so which version pre b89 you need java 6. b89 works with java 7if you already have java what is happening when you try to start maptool?

Edit: after a cursory search you may be in the same wagon as android users .... you can't run maptools becazuse the surface does not support the use of java yet If you have not yet purchased the rt i would suggest you take a look at the Surface pro

Thanks Dervish! I'm not sure why I didn't think of Java right away.

It depends on which version of the tablet you buy. Theres a "baby" version, that is JUST Windows RT, and then theres the "pro" version, or however it's named, that is a full copy of windows 8.

From the OS section of the specifications listed:
Works exclusively with apps available in the Windows Store.
Windows RT has no way to install software other than the Windows App Store. Microsoft does not distribute a version of Java through that app store. RT will not run MapTool.

At least not without possibly voiding your warranty
