Tokens

Post by crazybear »

Hey guys, is there a way to have tokens always keep their properties so that I do not have to add them everytime I want to drag them to a new map? Or is there another way to keep a players character sheet or monsters stats persistent in Maptool? I really like the program, by the way!

Hello and Welcome!

You cannot do it between campaign files but you can do it between maps. Just select the token(s), hit Control-C, switch maps, and hit Control-Z.

Simple copy/paste function.

Hope this helps you!

This was a very helpful tip for me.

What I was thinking of doing (as the GM) is creating a blank map hidden from players, and having all the tokens I'm using (or might use in the future) stored there, with all the properties and notes filled in (like an impromptu character sheet).

That way, when I need a particular NPC or monster, I can just copy and paste the token onto the map. So if I decide last minute that the encounter needs an Orc Cheiftan, I simply copy and paste and am ready to go.

Is this reasonable? Is there an easier way to store NPC/Monster stats and tokens?

Thanks,
Jeff

Watch this space, they are working on a .token format so that you can save tokens - but it is a work in progress.

You idea is probably then best with the current system. It's what I'd do - unless anybody else has any better ideas?

An export/import token properties function would be a cool feature to add in.

That's the idea behind the token format, but I don't know how high up the development list that is.

I know there is a lot of work being done on vision and light at the moment, but besides that I don't know what Trevor's priorities are.

Lol, I hate to think how many directions we are tearing you in at the moment:- Have you ever thought of learning to type with your toes so you can work on 2 different projects at once?

He does currently code like that - for a matter of fact, his avatar is just a mask to his true identity. If only you knew how he coded!

are you implying trevor is actually a mutant with octopus like appendages?

See I just knew SW and snikle's new SciFi campaign was dangerous!

Poor trevor, we love it, but his poor family and wife. You should all be ashamed.

Family and wife, I though he was married to his computer and that MT was his baby . . .

(wouldn't be surprised if his wife felt the same way as well)
