so I am trying to make a massive city, around 3km. it will be a circle with 4 main roads in each cardinal direction and the palace at the center.
The idea is to make a city that a campaign can take place in. I want players to eventually memorize the map, Treat the city as their own and learn the nooks and crannies. Is there anyone who would have advice on making this, perhaps able to offer a basic template ?

Re: advice on Making a large city
as far as 'putting it all into one map' in maptool, i do have some advice:
ive created a world map of warhammer with ALL available maps overlapping, with some macro to turn certain maps on or off (visible). I also put in maps of cities, taverns, houses etc. So you could zoom in from world view downto the table in a tavern. Pretty cewl BUT the memory is killing.
Hence i would strongly suggest to create several maptool maps. E.g. one overview of the whole town, you can do that pretty detailed, but as soon as you enter a bulding or a more detailed area i would suggest you use e.g. a teleport to send players to another mt map where the detailed part is. You can use the bag of tricks (link in sig) for that, if you wish.
