Why Isn't Text Layerable/Hideable?

Post by Kane »

I am just wondering why I can't rightclick text and assign it to layers, or make it invisible to players. I can do this with just about any other object. Why not text? I just don't understand why it wouldn't be identical to any other object I can put on the map. I could convert them all to transparent png files but it's not very convenient. Being able to write directly on the map, and hide the results, is one of the primary uses for VTTs I have - I can have a completely wiped dungeon map with numbers, description boxes and more directly in the room.
Yes, I can make a token and put notes in it, but why? Why is text special and so difficult to provide this feature for?
