Copied from pervious thread

"Art sat on his windowsill and drank slowly as he often did when he was worried. It wasn't the female elf asleep in his bed or the veiled threats that the troll in his crew keeps making that was keeping him awake. It was the EVO extraction. Art refilled his glass and reviewed the issue in his mind. There was no time like late night to think through one's troubles. Art dismissed the subconscious suggestion of getting his guitar.

24 hours ago his fixer Danielle set him up with a new Mr. Johnson. The crew met up with Art and introduced him to the new member, a techno named Aku with a van. He seems ok. On the ride to the Sioux bar for the meet, Art listened to the team describing their last mission for the Raven shaman in the PCC. Nano-bombs are a bad way to go he thought.

The bar was a rough and ready joint, just the way Art's people like it. The music was popping and the bartender was a doll. Art took a fancy to her and she to him as evidenced by her sleeping form in the bed. Art smirked. It was the meetup when the trouble began. No gunplay or blades or martial arts, just creepy feelings and deja vu.

The back room had a midget, not a dwarf and a fake person in a chair setup. The Johnson wanted himself evacuated from a hidden EVO base outside of town and the midget was practically a mindless cyber-zombie. What smelled was the lack of information on the site and the 100k nuyen the Johnson was offering. No clue who was paying the money but the matrix distribution of the credit bothered Art as well. The whole crew felt the stink and they deferred for 48 hours on the mission acceptance. 15k up front and thirty days to extract wasn't bad but information is power and can make the difference between life and death. And Art liked living.

As the next 12 hours went by and morning appeared, Art was even more disturbed. None of his contacts had useful information beyond an offer to aquire any EVO confidential information acquired and a list of known EVO facilities in town. But no information about the pit in the foothills. Other crew members learned of a node awakening on the site and Art pushed for a site visit. Everyone were leaning to take the job as the cash was worth a lot of trouble but all also felt uneasy like it was too good to be true. Arrow had the great suggestion of hiring a team to hit an EVO facility as a distraction.

John the walking Ork sensor, Arrow the mystic and Art rode out of town on bikes for a visit. Arrow went spirit form and flew for a look see while John and Art rode the fence. Before the team left, Bourne and Aku suggested some hardware and software acquisitions and were hard at work on that front. John and Art found the site and its old fence with a new EVO sign. They rode the fence but did not discover much even though John noticed some camo tarp. Arrow rejoined them to note what he found including the machine gun pit and the cave entrances. But not much else was found in the recon or a nearby town.

In less than 24 hours, a response is owed. Having weighed the options, Art made a decision. They would have to hit EVO early for information. He started to call the crew to get their agreement and the planning begun. Which site should they hit? Art chose the one that the techno had highighted on the list..."

Sorry do have to respond to that, mdh. Should be Sensor Orc, not Orc Sensor... Pretty sure mages are the only ones that can do that, lol.

When Art calls, John says point blank, that he is not interested in the job at the time being. There are just too many unknowns, and will freely admit the fact that the Johnson looking for an extraction had access to a cyber zombie in the middle of town scares the crap out of him. If others don't know what a cyber zombie is he will tell them point blank in glory details. Without full matrix support (which we do not have)as in: complete access to the buliding, personal files, and a scurity layout it is sucide. He doesn't even want to consider a frontal assult, as the chances of someone dieing is just too high. He might consider it if we hire outside hacking help and they are able to get the above information.

I dont think it was actually intimated that it was a CZ, just that it was the runners impression of him...

Correct. It did not look precisely organic, but I never said cyberzombie.

Art listens to John's concerns acknowledging many of them. He reminds John that the team voted unanimously yesterday to accept the deal and that in less than 24 hours, they will be accepting. So he needs to know whether John is in or out.

Art floats the EVO facility raid idea and asks John to let him know very shortly if he is in on the raid as it may go down before the acceptance deadline or shortly thereafter.

Art looks at his commlink to determine how much time they have before the contact and whether they have time to do the raid first.

Art next calls Aku and reminding him of the list of EVO locations, asks him to do a datasearch of these facilities and to help him figure out which ones should be targeted.

Art then calls Arrow to update him of the plan and John's misgivings.

Finally, Art calls Bourne to discuss the raid idea and to start the raid's wheels in motion, not mentioning John's issue yet.

Arrow lets Art know that he is still in, but with all that fancy looking electronics they really need John or some other matrix support. Arrow offers to take care of any scouting needs, and he asks John about getting another fake SIN or two. Arrow also lets John know that he has a talismonger tracking something down for him and checks to see if John would be willing to lend his negotiating skills once he hears back.

Arrow hoped he would hear back from the talismonger before the run, but was also worried that between the focus and a new ID he might need to scrape together some more cash. He resolved to check in with his fixer to see if there were any short jobs available to fill the time.

The technology they might be facing was beyond his experience so Arrow resolved to focus on the areas he did know. Magic and the wilderness. Did they choose the area for the cave or for the node? Clearly the cave had been built up for support, but withough a deeper view it was impossible to say how big it was or if it was naturally formed. Maybe they were drawn by the node, maybe they needed the extra juice for research. Either way, whatever magical support they have in place is sure to know the intricacies of working around the node, Arrow had to know more about it.

Arrow left a message for the team asking that they pass him any information they find on the node and the cave structure and the history of the region. Trying not to be too hopeful, Arrow placed a call to his mentor to remind him of the strange area and see if he knew anyone familiar with the phenomenon.

So we are on for tonight at 8:30 pm, correct? The outline for tonight as I see it is:

1. Return to decision mountain. If no-go, then proceed to item 4 and ignore item 5.

2. If possible, hit an EVO facility before decision conveyance to Mr. Johnson ("MJ") or before extension of decision window expires if one can be obtained.

3. Make commitment to MJ. Gain information about EVO facility and plan hit. Make purchases. Hire "distraction" team.

4. Do something else for a week or two or three.

5. Execute distraction plan and extraction of MJ from facility.

6. Execute delivery plan and anti-double-cross plan.

7. Get paid. Change IDs. Next mission.

I have my schedule for next week and I'll be on my -normal time, so for now its only tonight I'll be late. If some one runs my 'character before I get home my SOP would be to lay low and run matrix disruption if I can to inhibit the enemy and or take control of any drones

Art was tired though in a good mood. He was in trouble with his new paramour for missing a nap date and he would have to pay for it. Dinner and dancing was likely a good start. Maybe flowers should be sent.

The pictures in Art's comlink were worth it. John on a bike with a dwarf on his back was funny. And Bourne in a makeup artist's chair getting done was priceless.

Art mounted his loaner bike and smirked as he saw Bourne stumble towards the van after his drinking bout. It looked bad to start but the dwarf turned out to be a lightweight in the end.

It looked more and more likely that the team would take the EVO job. The team was expanding. Aku was bringing in two "friends" to assist. The first was a hacker who refused to meet in person yet liked to play with people's cyberwear. Art noted to have a discussion in person with the hacker regarding pissing off Trolls and others.

The second is another techno that Art also hasn't interviewed. Art agrees with Bourne that you can't trust a guy who you haven't looked in the eye. If they won't look you in the eye and say they are your friend and have your back, then they are asking for an Indian birthmark.

The hacker had promise Art thought as he handled a corner. He broke the EVO warehouse security and the infiltration by Joh, Bourne and Art was successful. No alarm raised and valuable information was gained. Chemically loaded cadavers, guns, ammo and simsense chips were being smuggled into the facility on Tuesdays as "Cosmetics" along with foodstuffs. The security guard they punked had no real information and the team dumped his drunk, racist meatbag into a metahuman gay bar for the night. The guns did not follow him.

Arrow is showing real promise. He delivered some sensors and drones to the facility to helppon the information recon. The new guy supplied some drones. Art would have tag teamed him with Bourne but there was no time. Danielle's call with a new Johnson led to dealing with dwarven romantic issues and a gang war to be addressed. Art would have to discuss the new techno with Bourne.

Art parked the bike in a sheltered location near his girl's place and headed on in. He hated to wake her up again since she has work in a few hours but better late than never. Once night came in a few hours, the team would reconvene and continue their planning...

Can we get a summary of what we have learned about the target facility from everyone so we have a starting place to plan?

Everyone can feel free to add what they learned or what they think they learned, but this is what I remember telling you and/or what the hacker pulled up.

Ground penetrating radar learned that the facility is pretty large, three floors each with three major sectors. There are two entrances on the GPR, the main one and a much smaller hidden entrance near the node. That entrance has some very dense material blocking it, likely a bulkhead of some sort. Similarly, there are places within the building that his radar could not penetrate due to massive density, likely some form of shielding, like a reactor.

There is a truck that goes to the base every Tuesday.

There is a second Runner team that will be doing a shakedown in roughtly a month. They will be attacking on a Saturday.
