TokenTool with Custom Overlays - Magenta Madness

Post by asprinkem90 »

I think a lot of folks use RPGTools TokenTool to create tokens out of images.
You can upload a custom overlay and select it when making a token.
The issue is the overlay needs magenta added on all exterior areas of the overlay.
The overlay does not have well-defined edges, making basic wand tool selection impossible.

How does anyone solve this? I see so many nice fancy overlays, but they all are totally useless to me if they can't be used with TokenTool.

Make the mask bigger than the deleted space. Let's say you have a ring that is 20px wide with a shadow of 5 pixels. On the outside of ring select the area, then expand it 10 pixels so selection overlaps the shadow an part of the ring. That will be your mask and fill it in with magenta and saved as a separate image. First you apply the mask to image you're creating a token for then you apply the ring.

So, it's a 2 step process. Apply mask, then apply token ring. That was at least how it was done on the older version of TokenTool. I think you can merge the mask and ring in the newer version so they're on different layers.
