Everyone is a Critic

Post by masterclif »

No picture this week. Just look up Potastrophe in the last adventure.

The party quickly left the mayor's office and went to Gobblesnit(noble mage).
They found out some quirks about his place of living, and encountered his butler. Quick and efficient, the butler brought them where they needed to be. Gobblesnit took the piece of the HANAN shroud, and they in turn got their choice of a magical item(level 3 or under).

They left to train for a week. After training, they met in the tavern where Potastrophe was fought. They discovered a job listing board. They chose to go investigate the disappearance of four clerics in an old museum. They got some info from the waiter who insisted on keeping the poster anonymous. Then talked to Abigale. The bard charged them 20 gold for a song. The party then arrived at the gate to the museum.

"Ah, I sing a song of small men. Small in brains, size, and other."
"The four merry men were of Pelor, and came to Held for a reason."
"They brought a strange statue, as small in size as their body parts."
"Their task was to see how it works, and if evil, see how to break it."
"Little did the small men know, the statue was an idol to the dark god Vecna."
"Vecna's followers would use it to siphon energy that was released during their terrible sacrificial rites.
"Thankfully, a shining paladin of Pelor descended down on them. Smiting them with great strokes of his giant blade."
"This Paladin then gathered up all the items, and brought them to his church.
"Vecna did not like this, and drained the Paladins life force as he traveled."
"The Paladin collapsed at the foot of the steps leading to his church of Pelor, just 3 feet from being able to live."
"At this church of Pelor lived four small clerics of small stature."
"They decided to go to the city of held, and deal with the object there, so that it not taint their church, should it be evil."
"They shut themselves in an old museum to study it."
"Weeks later, nobody had heard from the four small clerics.
"Guards were sent in, and ran out like the fools they were."
"Undead! They shouted"
"So a posting was put onto the wall of the guard's tale."
"And now you know it as well."

The party arrives at the gate of the museum to find none other then Uberminion picking at the lock. He gave the party the advertisement for this area, and they accepted him into the fold. The monk brought in a replacement. This replacement turned out to be a Warlock by the name of Zanne.
Thus emboldened, the party broke open the lock and walked around the museum. They found a party of Zombie Dogs eating a dwarf hammerer. It was a viscious fight, but in the end, they survived!
They found 10 copper on the dwarf hammerer. After that, they went into the gardening shed. Dawn came in, found masterwork thieves tools and a healing potion. Baern took some tools and buried the dead dwarf.
The party then went to the back of the museum. Uberminion listened at the door and tried to tell them what he heard, but nobody spoke kobold. So Baern opened the door to see...

Whoops, forgot to post what happened.

So, the party opens the door, and as it happens, a certain barbarian comes running to them. On the other side are a ton of zombies! Thanks to the warden, the party quickly crushes the zombie pack, and turns to the barbarian.
It seems the barbarian is here for the same job they are doing. They agree to fight together, and continue on.
They explore the room with the zombies, and go through the far door to what is probably a long closet. At the end of the closet, someone manages to find a secret door leading into the museum. Right on the other side are some more undead. The party attacks before the monsters are ready, and take full advantage of the surprise to turn the tables in their favor. They had just missed an undead cleric, who attacks. The party manages to beat the cleric. On a dead dwarf in the room, they find a normal looking sack. SURPRISE! It's a haversack, and inside is a piece of magical armor. Dawn inspects the statue, and finds that the statue is holding a magical weapon. Great haul.
Lining up at the door, the party again manages to find a secret room, where a familiar mist is coming from a strange statue. Dawn recognizes the mist as the same stuff the HANAN necromancer used to make undead. They put the artifact in the haversack, and decide to continue exploring the museum, even though their goals were pretty much accomplished. The party is determined to scour the museum of all evil.
The party comes across a group of enemies with skeleton archers in the back. Much damage is taken on both sides, but the party is victorious once more!

What shall we find next session? We shall see.

The session started with another joining the group. Seems Sam the monk met a cleric. Dawn decided to go check up on Sam and update him on their progress. Meanwhile, the party made some perceptions, but didn't see anything.
The party then went into the big east room and cleared out the mischief there. The evil undead cleric in this room barely put up a fight. They found a room in the corner that seemed to be more storage. There were lots of vases and such. The party managed to knock down one or two before continuing on.
Dawn came back as they headed to the west side of the building. They found another evil undead cleric and his minions. Here, there was a MUCH harder fight, but the party managed to pull through.
After recuperating, the party went to the last room in the middle. They met an evil cleric and an evil mage(which they hadn't heard about). This fight took a few minutes to finish, and the mage used this powerful burst spell that devastated an already weakened party. He managed to prepare it for the next round of attacks, but the party beat him to the punch, and finished him off before hand.
As group took a minute to congratulate themselves, Uber the Kobold left. Shortly after he left, Baern discovered something...The bag with the evil artifact is gone! Suspecting the Kobold had it, they quickly left the building. Sam was gone as well! They tried to track them, but the hard cobblestones combined with the recent foot traffic made that too difficult. One of the party managed to hear some rumors about them going to the town's exit.
On the way there, they met the captain of the guards and his second in command. He brought them to the gatehouse, and debriefed the party. They got their reward, and he said he would send some of his guards to track down where ever the two might be.
