The RPTools Site Translation Project

Post by RPTroll »

All,

We need some help translating the RPTools site into a variety of languages as part of RPTools.net site redesign project. If you're willing to help, go to http://www.rptroll.com/rptools/ and translate a page. Please post it back here if you've picked up a page to keep redundant work to a minimum. Also, this will let others review your work.

Thanks in advance,
Keith

Front page

hmm translating in Dutch is always a bit tricky as we already use a lot of english words in our website, so there is the danger of 'overtranslation' e.g. HOME = THUIS, but on Dutch websites its just 'HOME'. Here's a excellent example of a Dutch Website, look at the menu's...
so after some evaluation, the 'Dutch Translation' would be:
HOME
TOOLS
LAUNCH
DOWNLOAD
COMMUNITY
TUTORIALS
ACTIEVE SERVERS (im wondering whether you should not change the english varient as well to ACTIVE SERVERS, but its a matter of taste.)

And the homepage, note that I've extended the 'supported games' list according to the feature list, e.g. for W40K which you did not mention, last month I had about 90 downloads a week, up
to 360 downloads in just over a month. I've been working pretty hard to get attention drawn to rptools and my supported frameworks, I thus find it a bit odd, not to find them back in a list of supported games. Granted its still peanuts compared to dd but still. (edit: readin this back, it sounds like I was pissed off, I wasn't, if this were the homepage, then I would have find it a bit odd. I am however in full support of what you're conjuring up to promote MT and like to help where I can or feel necessary to do so ;D)

So here what I think that line should be: (At the risk of...)
Although certainly not comprehensive here you can find a list supported games: D&D 3.5 Ed, D&D 4 Ed (English, French and Spanish), Pathfinder, Warhammer 40k - Dark Heresy, Warhammer 40k - Roque Trader, Warhammer 40k - Deathwatch, Warhammer 2nd Ed, Warhammer 3rd Ed, Warhammer 40k Battle, Warhammer Fantasy Battle, ShadowRun, nWOD, Call of Cthulhu 5.6 Ed, Fate 3.0, Hackmaster, Dragon Age, Savage Worlds, Hero 5th ed., HarnMaster 3, Star Wars, Bash, GURPS, Gumshoe, Ars Magica 5h Ed., Dogs in the Vineyard and a couple of bord games.

A fair point. I haven't gone through the entire list of frameworks and added them to the list. I'll enhance the list per your suggestions.
