Hi,
i had used an older version of maptool many months ago with no issues. I updated to v1.7 and now i get screen tearing, full screen or windowed. Not sure if is v1.7 or some other driver along the months i updated.

Screen tearing is almost always a driver issue.

I checked, GeForce Game Ready Driver 451.67 is the highest version, from 7/9/2020.

MapTool does have some settings that are used to help debug graphics-related issues. It can't hurt to try them to see if they make any difference.
Click "Edit", then "Preferences", then click on the "Startup" tab. You might try checking the "Disable Direc3d Pipeline", "Enable OpenGL Pipeline", or "Initialize AWT before javaFX" check boxes (one at a time). If I recall correctly, you need to restart MapTool after you change one of those before the change takes effect.
