MapTool Alpha Build 101 Development notes

Post by trevor »

I was working on the token stack management popup, and in order to make it work I had to restructure the drag code so that you don't have to be dragging a token to move it. So I added a right click menu item to Move the current selection set.

This is great news for touchpad users: no more trying to drag, just right click->Move and then the token will follow you until you click again.

I might be able to get token stack popups finished tonight.

Getting closer to 1.0 ! WOOOO

As I think about it, I can add a shortcut key to pick up/drop tokens.

I'm thinking either P or M. Opinions ?

i would like to see arrow-key movement. P or M would be fine. M would be better, I think.

Hm, perhaps number pad movement at the same time as the arrow key movement? need those diagonals also, and it would probably be easier than the mouse for complicated paths

Good point.

Genie, can you make my numeric pad move a token?

It'll have to support both keysets since people on laptops may not have direct access to the number pad

Ok, I've got the preliminary introduction of keystroke token movement built.

You still have to indicate that you are moving the token set, such as hitting Right Click->Move or "P" (Pickup).

Here is a sample usage:

- select token
- hit "P" to pick up the token
- use the numeric keypad to move the token
- hit "P" to drop the token

I'll probably do a build later tonight so you guys can start playing with it and help me find the kinks

For the numpad movement, coudl 5 rightclick selected token or something? Or not. Just a suggestion. Probably best not to mix hotkeys, though.

I tried the num pad movement from my laptop (you have to hit the function key). It worked pretty well but the arrow keys would be nice.

The num pad with the space bar makes for some rapid movement.

Thanks Genie!!!
