The Stormwatch Inn

Post by torstan »

Okay, a new battle map to add to the collection of winter themed maps. Here is the Stormwatch Inn, overlooking the straight of swords in Dreeston:

Now those trees are a little large and imposing so here's the map without them:

and here's the tree overlay that can be dropped on whenever your players aren't walking underneath them:

And finally the same trees at 50% opacity, just in case you wanted to be really fancy:

Brilliant! Love the construction of the wall and the buildings.

The cliff facings are especially good. Fantastic technique on those.

Seriously, man. You need to be creating maps for adventure modules and Dungeon Magazine adventures. At least GameMastery modules.

Heck, I bet you could even sell some PDFs of maps.

Nice work, as usual.

Any chance you're going to do the layout of the interior of the Inn?

Thanks for all the compliments. I hope it comes in useful for people here. The cliffs, and the shadows from them on the snow, were a real pain to get right but I'm pleased with how they came out.

I do intend to to the interior of the Inn, at which point I'll make the roof a stamp rather than part of the map so that you don't have to switch maps mid session. Not for a while though because my players are going to adventuring in other places for a session of two.

Wow, what program do you use? Or are these hand drawn?

These are 'hand drawn' using a graphics tablet and Gimp - a free image editing programme.

Very nice map. I enjoy the more "hand drawn" aesthetic you've gone with.

You could just set up such that the order in which they are listed is the order of precedence or z-index.

Want the darkness spell to overcome all natural light sources? List it first.

Fraking A! Awesome job as always, love the style you are working with, gives a sort of old school feel, but with modern appeal.
