1.4+ Load Times with .exe file
Sometimes when I load MapTool with version 1.4.1.8 it takes a significantly longer time than the normal 10-15 second load time. It's definitely over 1 minute but less than 2 when it takes longer. Any ideas on why this happens? Usually after a long load the next time I open it usually back to the normal load time.

I see it as well and have just assumed it was related to the fat jar packaging of the later versions.

Is it possibly rebuilding the data directories and cache?
I don't use that version, but it sounds like the load time you're experiencing is more consistent with the longer runtime on the first install/run.

Are you launching the downloaded/setup exe to start or running it from the Windows start menu (assuming windows)?
It may also check for new versions (jwrapper is used and does additional things behind the scenes). This will be changed/removed in future versions.

Any idea when this might be? It's been 16 months since the last development version (1.4.1.8) was released.
And 2.5 years since the last "stable" (1.4.0.5) release.

I do run it from the installer. Never noticed the win launcher shortcut. I'll use that and see if it helps.

Ya, if you are running it from the installer it's running through all the "install" steps again. I recommend running from the shortcut.
I'm in the process of merging my fork back from it's current state (along with some minor changes) and hope to have a new Dev version out in Jan.Full Bleed wrote: ↑Thu Dec 27, 2018 7:17 pmAny idea when this might be? It's been 16 months since the last development version (1.4.1. was released.

Since this will encompass a lot of changes it will require a dev release or two. Of course this will delay 2.0 some and not sure what the next "stable" release will be. If the dev release works out well I suspect we can put out a stable before 2.0 dev is out.
