actually their last message is from the end of august (26th?) stating that they were working on something so they minimilized communication for that time.

August 7th they claimed on G+ that open beta would definately happen in august. They failed that and failed at communicating a delay.

Hopefully they will be back soon with a good apology, a new release and we can progress into open beta.

And above all I hope Lee gets back on his feet soon! Haven't heard from him in ages..

Anyone have a clue on how he is doing?

Okay, that's good. I was speaking of their public forum in G+ communities run by Idle Ideas. It's been pretty silent except for a few people who are asking what is going on.

I cannot find this message. It would atleast partially explains the wall of silence currently in effect...

Got a link?

We're on a short break with regard to correspondence while working on several items.
This really isn't an acceptable response.

Communication since the Kickstarter has been horrible.

Mote is built on MT. But for some reason we're not hearing anything about it here from any "official" sources.

Silly.

Sort of a fallacy, isn't it? Admittedly they would probably want to talk about Mote here, but the team certainly isn't obligated to. That said, they do need some sort of PR department badly. A real website probably wouldn't hurt, either.

I can only agree. Their communicatief skills are really abhorrent, im guessing that this is for the major part due to the lack of lee.

Not obligated to?

Of course they aren't obligated to talk here. But it's just beyond stupid not to. It's nonsensical.

They're building it ON Maptools. This is an open, active community of the people their program is going to serve. Mote is drafting off of the hard work of those that came before. And, currently, Maptool is drafting off the hard work and support of the macro community and the support that community members provide on these forums. To pretend that the vast majority of Mote's support didn't come from this community is ridiculous.

This community was good enough to market to and make promises to, but not good enough to keep in the loop after the fact?

I know that "something" happened to Lee (shortly after the kickstarter) and that's supposed to be why we aren't hearing from him. I hope he's ok. But I'm not going to assume the worst just because we haven't heard from him. In fact, just the opposite. The longer it takes the more I start to think he's not here by CHOICE. Same with Az. I'm sure "stuff" has happened to him over the last couple years, too. But I'm also pretty certain that the main reason he's not around anyone more is because MT just isn't a priority anymore (which isn't a sin.) It's starting to look and smell bad with Mote. First, what happened to Lee is really unknown. It was presented in wishy-washy, unspecific language, without any update about his condition as the months have gone on. Maybe what happened to him is so devastating that he has been unable to take 2 minutes of the last 6 months to communicate. But I doubt it. Even if that is the case, there would have been nothing for Mote to lose by having the current development guys be a little more upfront about Lee's extended absence, about who is moving the project forward, and provide people with an accurate timeline (with minimal updates when timelines are blown.)

Mote's kickstarter success was at the low end of expectations. But with proper management and delivering on their promises its future could have been really bright. Additional kickstarters could have been even better as word spread, adoption increased, and they built up a track record that people could believe in.

I want Mote to succeed. But they are dropping the ball.

It really is a shame. I know they didn't get anywhere near the money they hoped for and maybe bit off more than they could chew, but it really sounded like it was going to a, "Here's MOTE for free, proof of concept of the work we can do. Now we're launching a new company with a real spin off of MT, come follow us."

And they probably would get a major following of people that would possibly start paying for a 2.0 MOTE etc... But this, well, does not build confidence.

Has anyone recently tried to PM Lee? See how he is doing and if he knows anything about what's going on with the project?

Changing the Editor font size: If you have the latest beta (10b I think), CTRL+scrollwhell should work, but you have to have your mouse pointer over the Macro Editor panel.

Just did. I asked him to kick some donkey with the devs for us. I asked nicely, though.. :)

I have also sent mail some days ago to Idle Ideas, but no response yet. :(

well the only 'bright' side of this I can give is that they've been 'incommunicado' before and all of a sudden there was activity again. I have seen Lee answer some stuff on a rare occasion (might be in Snowy winter, bug reports) so he is around...a bit. However I have to agree, there communication skills reall really suck balls, they initially mentioned that that was Lee's role, but he was in the hospital, but they should have learned by now that even some basic communication can make a world of difference.

anyway, we'll see.

I agree in shame, MT is stagnant, and while I love it to death, the existance mote hinted at was one I was initially excited for when I learned of it just recently, but now that they've proven unreliable, who am I supposed to spread the word to? what can I possibly tell people. "hey guys, theres this company making a new maptools, but they have been silent for a month after a deadline and haven't delivered anything!" that doesn't get people excited to try or invest more in the product. I know they didn't get the 15 they wanted, but I'm starting to think that might be a good thing, becauses the longer this goes on the more likely it is they never intended to deliver in the first place.
