Hello all, I've run into an issue recently with my campaign file. When I try to open it, I get met with the following error message:
Could not load campaign.
java.util.concurrent.ExecutionException: java.util.zip.ZipException: zip END header not found
I have several recent saves of the campign file, as well as the saves in the backup maptool folder, and they all seem to have this issue.
Searching the forum, I can see there are a couple other posts describing this same issue. The fixes in those cases were to change the campaign file to a ZIP file and try to open it that way or repair the file. I have tried to do so with several different zip repair applications: WinRAR,
Repairit ZIP Repair, and Diskinternal ZIP Repair. They all give an empty output.
I'm at a bit of a loss on what to do now; besides, just try more repair tools. If anyone has any suggestions on how to proceed or any recommendations for repair tools that might work, I would be very grateful.

Re: Campaign file wont open, END Header Not Found
Outside of zip repair, there isn't much to be done. If you have several files like that, then that hints at your system or method is corrupting the files. I would be cautious on relying on the autosave. I think the default time is like 5 minutes, which, imo is too short. I set mine for 60 minutes. When closing the campaign, don't rely on the reminder save. You cancel the reminder, do a manual save and then close. I do think the autosave and reminder save could corrupt if done at the same time, which is another reason why to set autosave to a longer time interval. I just don't rely on either. I also keep a running save each week, dating the file rather that rewritting older saves. Space is cheap.

Thank you for the advice. I think that I'm probably just out of luck in regards to recovering this campaign file. I don't suppose you have any recovery tools that you'd recommend?aliasmask wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 12:59 pmOutside of zip repair, there isn't much to be done. I've had previous had luck with WnRar recovery but recently wasn't able to help someone else recover a file with it. So, you may get lucky, but I wouldn't count on it.
